Sr. Marie-Noelle Chaumette

Sr. Marie-Noelle Chaumette, x.m.c.j., is a member of an Ignatian apostolic institute, La Xaviere, that is rooted in the spiritual tradition of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. She just recently settled in Toronto and has lived in Canada for ten years.

Before becoming a nun, Sr. Marie-Noelle spent a year in an Israel kibbutz and one year in New York, where she met people from other religions. She studied for a Pastoral Theology degree in Toulouse Institut Catholique France with an audio-visual stream.

Because the community of La Xaviere allows its members to be involved in different areas, Sr. Marie-Noelle has been working in social, medical and pastoral fields and in new parishes in France. Some of her past activities have involved organizing a family feast for young parents in Toulouse, being part of the Catechesis team in the diocese of Toulouse and participating in a radio station, Radio Presence, with an emphasis on Catechism.

In 1999, Sr. Marie-Noelle moved to Montreal and worked at the Pastoral Institute of Dominican Friars.

Sr. Marie-Noelle came to Toronto in 2006. Here, she volunteers at Mustard Seed, an organization created by the Sisters of St Joseph, where guests have the opportunity to share coffee, conversation and music.

Sr. Marie-Noelle is excited to discover more and more about the Canadian Church, and believes Salt + Light Television is a good place to learn and to share. Sr. Marie-Noelle produces episodes of Focus catholique and assists in the translation of Salt + Light programs.
