On Wednesday, July 8, Pope Francis meets with men and women religious of Ecuador. What more fitting setting for this meeting than the National Shrine of Our Lady of El Quinche before Ecuador's Marian patroness. The figure of Our Lady was created in 1594, was given to natives, and quickly became their patroness. She was finally crowned in 1943 and her feast day is celebrated on November 21 each year.
