The Brothers of Charity Group, will continue to allow its doctors to continue perform euthanasia despite Pope's orders. The Superior-General of the Catholic order,  Brother Rene Stockman, upset about the board's decision, solicited Vatican intercession resulting in the Papal ultimatum that the group reverse their decision and sign a declaration condemning euthanasia or face sanctions under Canon law. ...read more
Reflecting on the day’s Gospel, which narrates the parable of the unforgiving servant, the Pope urged all Christians to open their hearts to forgiveness, and said that to be able to build peace, one must be able to forgive. “Forgiveness does not deny the injustice one has been subjected to”, the Pope said, “but it acknowledges the fact, that the human being, created in the image of God, is always superior to the wrong that is committed." Commenting on Jesus’ invitation to forgive “not seven times, but seventy-seven times,” the Pope said, it means, “that Christians are called always to show forgiveness." ...read more

In the Philippines, Manila's Cardinal, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, has asked for all church bells at the archdiocese to be rung every evening, starting this Thursday, to remember the thousands of people killed in the government's campaign against drug dealers and addicts.
