Message to Bell subscribers

February 10, 2012
Bell FibeDear viewers and supporters of Salt + Light on Bell TV,

On April 19, 2012, Salt + Light will no longer be available through Bell TV. We are extremely saddened to lose our ability to reach an important group of viewers (Salt + Light had 2,190 subscribers on Bell TV). The bishops of Canada together with hundreds of people have contacted Bell and asked them to reverse their decision. The ever-increasing cost of carriage on Bell's satellite service was one of several factors in this decision.

As a compromise, Bell opened the way for our prompt addition to its new fibre optic service, Bell Fibe, which enters into effect March 23. For those of you reading this message who have lost our signal, it is our prayer that Bell Fibe will become available in your area (and home) or that you might consider connecting to Salt + Light through another provider or in another way. We are pleased to offer live streaming, documentaries on DVD, a radio program, magazine and websites such as YouTube with a considerable amount of Salt + Light content. Please visit www.saltandlighttv.org/connect for details.

Thank you for your support and prayers as we embark in this transitional phase without satellite carriage. Even with the loss of satellite carriage on Bell TV, Salt and Light is still available in over 2 million homes across the country. Our efforts for distribution agreements with satellite (direct-to-home) carriers will continue, and we need your help to appeal to all cable carriers across Canada to carry our network. Carriage on satellite networks requires funds and we rely on your continued generosity to make this possible.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Fr. Thomas Rosica, C.S.B.,
CEO, Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation
