Schoenstatt: A treasury of graces

Have you ever heard of Schoenstatt? If you live and were formed in Canada, the answer is probably no. However,  Schoenstatt is an international Catholic movement that was founded in Germany in 1914. Today there are secular institutes for women, priests, sisters, and federations for families and youth. The community is present in 42 countries and has an estimated 96,000 members. Wherever there is a stable community of Schoenstatters, there is usually also a small chapel that is an exact replica of the original Schoenstatt chapel in Vallendar, Germany.
While working in Madrid for WYD I met many members of the Schoenstatt community from around the world. I also had a chance to visit not only the Schoenstatt sanctuary in Madrid, but the original shrine in Vallendar and several members of the various Schoenstatt communities.
Tune in to Focus Wednesday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 10 to meet this remarkable community.
