Jesus is truly Our priceless treasure!
Yes, dearest readers of these lines, such is the perfection of the love of God that He gives His very best graciously to all of us!

Such is the perfect of all-wise love of God, that He keeps on gently knocking on our heart’s door, even when we often robustly avoid knocking on His welcoming door.

Searchers for God’s best, if you’re feeling burnt out, exhausted and lonely. If you’re feeling hurt and wronged. If you have no more strength and your load is becoming too heavy.

Say yes to the risen Jesus of Nazareth, your best Friend and Teacher. Say yes to Lord Jesus, even if you can hardly muster an audible whisper.

Be mightily encouraged, for even in the midst of your suffering you can wholeheartedly thank Him, praise Him and offer worship unto Him.

Honest seekers for truth, right now it is the time to truly count your blessings, for it is God who is giving you the power and strength to open your eyes, stand up, breathe, walk, see – and read and study, with rapt concentration and attention, the Holy Bible.

And precisely at the right moment when you’re most ready, He will send people your way, so that you can understand and appreciate God’s greatly treasured Beloved, Jesus Christ, even more fully.

May God Triune, the unique God of the Holy Bible, bless you with a new, deeply grateful and loyal heart, so that you can treasure, full of wholesome delight, His sacred writings.

O yes, may God continue to pour blessing after blessing on all sincere diligent students of the Holy Bible. To God be eternally the glory.

Thank you very much Thomas Rosica for sharing some of your very interesting and moving recollections of Teresa of Calcutta.

God can certainly use the fruit of silence and studiousness to stir up a desire for increased prayerfulness within us (See Psalm 46:10).

And the fruit of prayer in spirit and truth can lead to an increased level of faith. And most assuredly the fruit of faith in triune God is Love for God and His sheep.
Truly God's love inspires us to service to the lost and lonely - and the fruit of faithful service unto God is peace.

Apart from Christ Jesus “there is no salvation.”

As Peter faithfully proclaimed before the Sanhedrin at the very start of the apostolic preaching: “There is no other name in the whole world given to men by which we are to be saved” [Acts 4:12].

Yes, salvation is offered to all, it has been made available by God to all. In His wonderful gracious gift of salvation God takes us from being spiritually dead to being spiritually alive - that is quite some transformation.
Truly, there is no possibility of salvation independently of faith in Jesus Christ, Our unique Redeemer.

It is also true that Lord Jesus loves Christians as a father loves his children. Let us, therefore, give thanks to the risen Jesus of Nazareth our eternally faithful, righteous, holy, gracious, merciful and loving Saviour God.

The issue is not the census, but the intimidation used to create compliance among vulnerable segments of the population, particularly the poor and aboriginals. This is citizen abuse, and the fact that we’ve been doing it forever is no excuse.

I was quite astonished when I reviewed the questions on the 2001 and 2006 long-forms. Asking people if they’re in a same-sex common-law relationship, or which of the children in the household were born out of wedlock, seems pretty personal to me. If the government needs to ask such questions fair enough, but people who feel they’re too intrusive need to be free to decline to answer without any fear of retaliation. Mr. Clement is not scrapping the census, just the abuse.

21000 Canadians registered Jedi knight as a religion in the 2001 census.

The mandatory census is done on penalty of JAIL - kind of like what the Holy Family had to endure.

Will the Bishops open up inter-religious dialogue with Canadian Jedi Knights because of the MANDATORY census??

U R G E N T P R A Y E R A P P E A L

Church unity and world peace will come when we UNIFY THE DATES OF EASTER. Jesus has been asking the Church for more than 2 decades to have one Easter date.

"Will I, brother, one more season go through the pain I have been going through year after year? or will you give Me rest this time? am I going to drink one more season the Cup of your division? or will you rest My Body and unify, for My sake, the Feast of Easter?

In unifying the date of Easter, you will alleviate My pain, brother, and you will rejoice in Me and I in you; and I will have the sight of many restored;" (Oct 14, 1991 TLIG)

LOVE AND HUMILITY IS MISSING.

Dialogues, rationalism and intellectualism will not bring about unity. Unity begins not with a signed treaty, but in the heart. All is possible with God and prayer is our contact with Him. Let us ask the Holy Spirit for the grace to truly repent, for the fruit of repentance is humility and love.

We need to and must allow the Holy Spirit to invade our minds and hearts so that He is able to direct us towards complete unity and peace. Until we UNIFY THE DATES OF EASTER, we hinder the Holy Spirit's action to come upon us in full force to give us the next step to take. We must UNIFY THE DATES OF EASTER first.

Let us bend our knees in prayer and ask for the grace of the Holy Spirit to inflame our hearts with obedience and love to UNIFY THE DATES OF EASTER.

Lord, have mercy on us. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.

Thank you very much. You have posted a very interesting article. I really enjoyed how you linked the Old Testament and the New Testament together.

What we know definitively about Sodom and Gomorrah was that God overthrew these places in his anger and his wrath.
God has a teaching in the Holy Bible that states that "pride goes before a fall".

In Sodom and Gomorrah the point had been reached when no one was turning from their wickedness. They had embraced lying and were clinging oburately to evil. They werde prideful, adulterous and stubborn and many of the citizens committed forication and homosexuality.

Jude
5But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Sodom and Gomorrah was characterized by the public flaunting of ungodly behaviour, so God's creation can and should desire to learn to say no to such unfitting unnatural behaviour.

May God continue to bless you richly.

On the subject of the artwork, I'm a bit curious why the painter would paint God looking like an old man instead of a young looking man. The latter would seem more biblically correct.

Nina,
Much of the work we use comes from the masterful treasures of classic painters who did a wonderful job imagining Biblical scenes. This particular one isn't so much Abraham bargaining with God, but actually goes back to the scene we read on Sunday a few weeks ago where the Angels visit Abraham. The painting is "God and the Angels visit Abraham" by Arent de Gelder, painted around 1680-1685.

God bless,
Matthew.

Thank you Matthew Harrison for reminding us of these magnificent words from Our eternal heavenly Father.

“This is my beloved Son (Jesus), with whom I am well pleased.”

The Son’s mission was to reveal the Love of the merciful Father and to reconcile the world with him: Christ is the propitiation for the sins of the world. Only a divine Son could take on the sin of the world, expiate it and satisfy all the demands of the love of the New Covenant. The divine Spirit attests to this by raising Christ from the dead, thereby confirming his divine identity and his status as the High Priest and sole Mediator of the New Covenant. What a successful mission it was!

By reading your comments on the last judgement it makes me reflect if jesus were to return to life as jesus of montreal.
I can see him sleeping at la maison du pere and meeting the convicts and those with addictions and going to acceuil bonneau for lunch
Begging for money in front of the second cup at place des arts
Picking up extra cloting laid out on saint catherine street to stay warm
Going in to a gay strip club to pray for the sons of isreal
Meeting a chinese tourist from halifax in a hostel at parc lafontaine and inviting him to watch china perform the fireworks
Going in to la chapelle de lourdes and seeing all the sick and elderly who come in during the hot summer days to coll off
Cleaning plastic bottles and filling them with clean water for the thirsty
Filling the foodbank baskets
Just stopping to chat
Smile
Give hope
Exhort scriptures
Share a meal or a fruit with a streetperson and pray

Have always loved this parable because the example of the Samaritan is most reflective of Christ. And aren't we always seeking the face of Christ? Thanks for the reminder of Fr. McGivney, too.

FOR THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH IN UNIFYING THE DATES OF EASTER
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand (Mk 3:24)

If we, the Body of Christ, are to be one, it can only be in the unity of the Holy Spirit, for we ought to have the words, “Through him, in him and with him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours Almighty Father forever and ever” written in our hearts by now.

Christ, offended, said in a message, “My Kingdom on earth is My Church, and the Eucharist is the Life of My Church, this Church I Myself have given you. I had left you with one Church, but hardly had I left, just barely had I turned back to go to the Father, than you reduced My House to a desolation! You leveled it to the ground! And My flock is straying left and right. For how long am I to drink the Cup of your division? Cup of affliction and devastation!” (Nov 14, 1991 TLIG)

This division, our intolerance with one another, our stubbornness and pride is not according to the Spirit of our Lord. These things prove that Love is missing. We need to ask for the grace of the Holy Spirit for a deep repentance. We need to have a true conversion of the heart, so that the Holy Spirit can lead us to unity, for “It is not just through words that unity among brothers will come, but through the action of the Holy Spirit. Unity will come through humility and love.” (Sep 30, 1993 TLIG)

Easter is the greatest feast we share, yet, it is divided and torn apart as one part of the Body of Christ celebrates His Resurrection, while the other part is entering His Passion. This division massacres daily our Lord's Body. We see this massacre reflected on the whole earth, as well. “Every Easter season I must drink of the cup of your division since this cup is forced on Me. The more time passes for them to unite the dates of Easter, the more severe their sentence this generation will receive.” (May 31, 1994 TLIG)

The world will not have peace until the East and West Church takes the first step towards unity by UNIFYING THE DATES OF EASTER, while we continue to watch, “The earth reels like a drunkard, it sways like a hut in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion that it falls, never to rise again.” (Is 24:20)

Let us pray very much for the the Church to be One Body in Christ, glorifying one Lord, with one heart, celebrating His Passion and Resurrection with one mind, on ONE EASTER DATE, in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

God bless us.
