Every seven seconds…

Bullying occurs every seven seconds in our schools….scary thought, especially since we know that these acts extend far beyond demanding someone’s lunch money. Why is this phenomenon on the rise? And how is it that kids and teens are capable of this form of destructive behaviour?
Tune in to Catholic Focus this Saturday at 7 and 11pm ET and join me in an interesting panel discussion aimed at finding out the scary facts as well as the hopeful facts with regards to how Catholic schools and their students are fighting to reverse the stats.
This episode features a sneak peak into two fascinating media pieces that were created in response to an anti-bullying campaign that is slowly sweeping the nation. The first segment of the episode is on “The Virtues Series,” where producer Mary Rose Bacani visits several schools in the Greater Toronto Area with the purpose of catching students on-camera being virtuous and talking about their faith in action. Featuring kids and teens, this series is created in a style that will captivate the attention of their peers. The second segment is a powerful short film production called “Shadows on the Snow.” With the guidance of their communications technology teacher, grade 12 students from Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School, in Mississauga, Ontario produced this seven minute piece that will leave you thinking. At times hard to watch, this film has a powerful message about the effects of bullying. Don’t miss it!
