6th World Meeting of Families
Though Mexico City does seem appealing this time of year, attending the 6th World Meeting of Families just isn't possible for most of us (especially those with children). Nevertheless, the Church's Apostolic Penitentiary announced on Saturday that you will receive a plenary indulgence if you participate from afar. How?
The Plenary Indulgence may be obtained under the usual conditions: sacramental Confession, Eucharistic communion, prayer in keeping with the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff, and with the soul completely detached from any form of sin.
Truly repentant faithful who are unable to participate in this event may nonetheless obtain Plenary Indulgence under the same conditions if, united in spirit and heart with the faithful present in Mexico City, they and their families recite the Our Father and the Creed, or other devout prayers, to invoke the aforementioned aims from Divine Mercy, especially at the moments in which the words and messages of the Pontiff are being transmitted by television and radio.
And that's where Salt + Light comes in. This Sunday, January 18th at 10am ET we will be airing the live English translation of the closing Mass of the World Meeting of Families. The homilist will be none other than Pope Benedict XVI, live via satellite from the Vatican (as he did at Quebec City's 49th International Eucharistic Congress this past June). We will air the French translation at 3:30pm ET. Then once again in English at 9pm and 1am ET, we will rebroadcast the Holy Father's homily.
