Noel-Blog
Welcome to S+L’s Weekly News Round-Up. As part of my job in bringing you the latest Catholic news on Perspectives Daily, I come across many interesting stories on a daily basis. Some of them I'll cover on my show and the others I’d like to share with you on this blog. This weekly column is where I’ll point out some of the more interesting news pieces, stories, or videos that I've come across over the past few days! Enjoy!
Does Purgatory exist? As Catholics, we do believe in that place of purification after death. However, if you have any doubt of its existence, you should check out this story published in Aleteia about a museum in Rome that is dedicated to proving that Purgatory exists by displaying a collection of items that have tangible marks that souls in Purgatory have left in order to convince their loved ones to pray for them. Physical messages from Purgatory include scorched papers and clothing. Check out the slide show here.
And since we happen to be on the subject of Purgatory, did you know that according to tradition,  St. Gertrude the Greata German mystic and the patron saints of nuns, was given a specific prayer by Our Lord and was assured that when recited, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory. Check out the story here and the Prayer below. Incidentally, her Feast Day is coming up next Friday on November 16th.

“Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said
throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
and in my family. Amen.”

What's the first thing that comes to mind when someone says vintage doll collection? Personally, I immediately think of creepy images of terrifying dolls that you'd expect to see in a horror film. But not in this case. Here's an interesting story of a collection of dolls - nun dolls - presented to the Archdiocese of Atlanta archives which preserves the historical legacy of women religious in the US.
As I'm sure you know, Archbishop Oscar Romero was canonized a saint on October 14th. But do you know the details on the final Vatican-approved miracle that closed the deal? I have those details for you here.
Finally today, I wanted to share this story from our friends at Grotto Network about how delivering pizza to the less fortunate and hungry helps this volunteer share a positive attitude while helping him with his addiction recovery.
Well, that's all that I have for you this Friday. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you. Be sure to check back with us next Friday for more.
Also, be sure to catch all the latest Catholic news and stories from around the world on Perspectives Daily. The show airs on the network Monday to Friday at 7pm ET or you can catch the latest episodes online here.
We'll see you next week.
