Welcome to S+L’s Weekly News Round-Up. As part of my job in bringing you the latest Catholic news on Perspectives Daily, I come across many interesting stories on a daily basis. Some of them I'll cover on my show and the others I’d like to share with you on this blog. This weekly column is where I’ll point out some of the more interesting news pieces, stories, or videos that I've come across over the past few days! Enjoy!
I came across this interesting article this week on the Journal, about how the popemobile has changed over the years. From the bulletproof Mercedes of past papacies to a more humble 2008 Ford Focus or the small Fiat 500L that Pope Francis has been seen cruising in. Being a car guy myself, I've always been fascinated by the collections of Vatican popemobiles, which sadly didn't include the Lamborghini recently given to the pope as a gift and which he auctioned off for charity earlier this year.

It turns out that Pope Francis wasn't the only Pontiff to have been given an exotic car. In 2005, St. John Paul II was gifted an Enzo model Ferrari by the Italian automaker, only one of 400 ever made. He auctioned it off for charity for a cool million.
I also found this video from RomeReports on the brief history of the popemobile going back to Pope Pius VII that I think other Catholic car enthusiasts would enjoy.
In other news, it seems that Fr. Rob Galea isn't the only Catholic priest musician that's starting to make it big on the mainstream music scene. The Franciscian Friars of the Renewal have their own claim to fame with Brother Isaiah. Check out their latest music video for their song: "Struggler".  This video will remind you that your struggles are not in vain because Christ is our hope. It seems to me that we need a new TV show called "Catholic's Got Talent"!
While we're on the subject of up-and-coming musical friars, check out these banjo-plucking Dominicans from the Dominican House of Study and St. Dominic's Priory in Washington, D.C. They released their first album last year, and it's available to purchase on the Dominicana website.
The final day of the 2018 Synod of Bishops on Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment is coming to a close this Sunday. In the past four weeks, there have been so many great videos coming out of Rome featuring the different youth delegates from all over the world. Here are two that really deserve a mention:
Finally, can you guess what actors John Wayne, Gary Cooper, and Gary Sinise all have in common? They were all adult converts to Catholicism.  I thought I would share this article published by Aleteia that profiles 14 Famous people who converted to Catholicism.
Well, that's all that I have for you this Friday. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you. Be sure to check back with us next Friday for more.
Also, be sure to catch all the latest Catholic news and stories from around the world on Perspectives Daily. The show airs on the network Monday to Friday at 7pm ET or you can catch the latest episodes online here.
