At the 2008 General Congregation of the Society of Jesus, a painting in the Church of the Gesu is lowered to reveal a statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the order. Every day at 5pm a conversion machine built by Andrea Pozzo is turned on. The machine lowers a painting in the church's St. Ignatius Chapel to reveal a statue of the saint. The Gesu church is the mother church of the Society of Jesus.
