WYD08: Arrival!

July 13, 2008
After a twenty hour flight to Australia and an exhausting first day, the white computer screen is burning my eyes just a little. I'm determined to promptly finish my work though, as I'd rather not walk from this internet cafe to my residence much past midnight.
While the rest of the S+L team is lodged near the harbour, I'm one of the few Canadians staying at the University of Sydney. The reason for our separation is that I'm a member of the International Liturgy Group, a team of youth on stage at the major World Youth Day events.
I'll be writing more about it here and on the World Youth Day blog of the Catholic News Service, which also features a number of other reporters on the ground. Meanwhile, Salt + Light's WYD coverage begins Monday evening on Zoom, airing 7 PM and 11 PM (EST) and available online here.
