WYD08: Reconnecting Time!

July 13, 2008
our-old-friends-gillian-and-david-kantor1.JPGOne of the great things about World Youth Day, which I’m discovering, is that you get to connect with people again.
Among the memorable people are Gillian Kantor and her husband David. We were able to have lunch and dinner with them despite their excruciatingly busy WYD schedule. They have been working as volunteers in Sydney for the past little while. Gillian has been working with the 8,000 volunteers, and David with purchasing. Chris Valka, CSB, production associate, has been doing everything from being in charge of what shows up on screen during World Youth Day to being the emcee for the papal welcome ceremony.
Aside from seeing old friends again, the Salt + Light crew is having fun in Sydney. Check out Zoom for Monday July 14th (posted after 6pm ET) to find out who make up the Salt + Light crew. In the meantime, enjoy a few photos….
(Clockwise, L-R: 1) Pilgrim Crossing with Mary Rose! It's a popular promotional tool all over Sydney. 2) WYD Shirts for sale at the airport. 3) Fr. Thomas Rosica and Fr. Andrew Leung con-celebrate Mass at St. Patrick's Church on Sunday. 4) Pedro and Mary Rose plan to travel by water taxi.... 5) ... or maybe they'll travel by the ever-present monorail. 6) A didgeridoo performance on the streets of Sydney.)
