Discerning Discernment

Rodin’s ‘The Thinker’Discernment is one of those big words that is often only heard in Catholic circles – usually the ones speaking about vocations to the priesthood. While men discerning priesthood certainly do discern, they are far from the only people who do this. In short, discernment is decision-making, but it is also a bit more complicated than that as well.
On Friday, Focus will take a look at who, how and what people discern. In other words, we will look at decision making from a Catholic angle – for both the big and small decisions in our lives. We will also explore how we can create an environment that allows for God and others to guide the choices that require decisions and action. We also ask what happens when you discern one vocation only to find out that wasn’t your vocation after all.
So join myself and fellow producer Pedro Guervara-Mann as we discuss and hear from Archbishop Terrence Prendergast, Fr. Roberto Donato and many others, about the big word that often leaves us a bit confused.
You can catch the Focus Discernment episode on Friday at 7pm and 11pm ET, with an encore presentation on Sunday, April 22nd at 7pm and 11pm ET.
