Venite Adoremus - Salt + Light Christmas Concert 2012

Much more than a concert!
Growing up in Montreal, I greatly admired how diverse communities would gather together for major festivals, events and celebrations throughout the year. The diversity and openness astonished me. There was always a cool festival or event to visit – one that would allow us to delve into any number of cultures, religions or areas of interest. Most were quite welcoming.
On Thursday, December 6, 2012, our Catholic community in Toronto will have a wonderful opportunity to do just that: to gather together in all of our diversity, beauty and charity. Like at our individual Masses, God will be with us.
Though billed as a concert, this event will be so much more. It is an opportunity to gather as a faith community at a key time of the year – a season that has been partially diluted for many persons in our communities. Stress, consumerism and culture will have an impact on many of us. A far-reaching community event, one that propels us to Bethlehem and back to share, in some way, the Gloria expressed by the Angels, can do us a lot of good, especially as a cohesive community.
As a marketing person, I get the sense this event, though organized in conjunction with our 10th year anniversary, will come back year after year. It seems to me that our city needs a Christmas event like this; not only a concert, but a large-scale community event that allows us to rejoice in large numbers, together, at the impending arrival of our Saviour and Messiah.
I hope you will join us for Venite Adoremus. It will be a wonderful evening.
