While things in Rome have been causing a buzz, back home dioceses are heading into their summer schedule. Still, there’s plenty to talk and read about. Here’s a sample:
In Ottawa, Archbishop Terrence Prendergast, SJ, shares the life story of one of his conference who entered the Jesuits in 1944, just a boy from Winnipeg. His ministry took him to places he’d never dreamed of.
In Vancouver, diocesan leaders are not just talking about having dynamic parishes, they are getting the tools they need from experts in a variety of fields. Many spent last weekend learning “How to be and Amazing Parish.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s report is still front and centre. Bishop Mark Hagemoen posted this on his blog after the release of the report.
Of course the papal encyclical Laudato Si was released this week. The Archdiocese of Edmonton has put together these resources for anyone wanting to read more.
Of course, Salt + Light also has a page of text and video materials to help you get into the document. We’re especially pleased to bring you the first three episodes of “Creation” season two, all about exactly the issues Pope Francis addresses in his document.
