Mother Teresa is being canonized on Sunday, Sept. 4!
S+L is thrilled to bring you LIVE coverage of Mother Teresa's canonization Mass from the Vatican on Sunday, September 4 at 4:30amET (repeat times are listed below).  But that's not all!  We're happy to bring you a series of great programs on the life and legacy of Mother Teresa over this Labor Day Weekend.  Here's what will be on our network:
  1. WITNESS: Fr. Brian Kolodiejchuk, MC.  Fr. Kolodiejchuk is the postulator of the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. He is also Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity Fathers. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Fr. Kolodiejchuk's 20-year association with Mother Teresa dates back to 1977.  In this 30-minute interview Fr. Kolodiejchuk reflects on the wisdom of Mother Teresa, the process leading up to her canonization in the context of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, and he argues that her entire life was oriented toward encountering God's mercy, which expressed itself concretely to her in the poor and most vulnerable.Watch it on S+L:

  2. Mother Teresa: The Legacy.  This film by Ann and Jeanette Petrie tells the dramatic story of Mother Teresa's last day, her sudden death and her moving state funeral which was attended by the poor, the powerful and the rich from around the world. At the heart of the film, and for the first time, we see and hear Mother Teresa reveal her simple but profound spirituality that, put into action, transcended religious, political and cultural boundaries and enabled her to open 500 homes for the poor in 124 countries. The film includes intimate and never-before-seen footage of Mother Teresa's private burial. But it is Mother's words, in the end, that reveal why she has captivated the hearts and won the admiration of millions around the world.Watch it on S+L:

As a teenager she was baptized by Mother Teresa of Calcutta and joined the Missionaries of Charity order at the age of 17 after converting to Christianity. Shortly before Mother Teresa'?s death in 1997, Sr. Nirmala succeeded her in leading the Missionaries of Charity as the second Superior General of the international congregation. On March 25, 2009, Sr. Nirmala's term as Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity ended and she was succeeded by German-born Sr. Mary Prema Pierick.  Sr. Nirmala died on June 23, 2015 at the age of 80.
