Perspectives Daily - Ash Wednesday

March 1, 2017
We begin in Rome today where Pope Francis marked Ash Wednesday by inviting the faithful to renew their hope in Christ’s promises and their commitment to follow Him ever more closely.
Don't forget, you can watch the Pope’s entire address tomorrow night at 7:05pm Easter Standard Time right after tomorrows edition of Perspectives Daily.
Now to the famous Sistine Chapel at the Vatican museum. To help with future restorations of the famous Michelangelo fresco's on the ceiling, a five-year project was unveiled last Friday by the Vatican Museum and Italy's Scripta Maneant.
“The aim of this project”, said Antonio Paolucci, former head of the museums and a world-renowned expert on the Sistine chapel, “is leave the Museum with 270-thousand digital frames that show frescoes in stunning detail, allowing them to know the exactM state of every centimeter of the chapel as it is today, in 2017."
The last time all Sistine frescoes were photographed was between 1980 and 1994, during a landmark restoration project that cleaned them for the first time in centuries.
Finally now, I leave you with this video. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops just released a beautiful message to celebrate their national heritage of welcoming newcomers into a culture of encounter.
And that is all that we have time for today. From all of us here at Salt + Light, we thank you for joining us.
