We start off today by celebrating the Catholic Near East Welfare Association, on their 90th anniversary of "invisible" and quiet service to the poor in the Middle East, Northeast Africa, India and in Eastern Europe.
CNEWA was founded in 1926 in response to a request by Pope Pius the 11th to unite all American Catholic organizations that provide aid to Russia and the Near East.
As a papal organization, its mandate from the Vatican is to support the Eastern Catholic Church and to work for Union among Catholic and non-Catholic Eastern churches.
CNEWA has been a great friend and supporter of Salt and Light so we wish all our friends there a very happy anniversary on this great milestone. ANd for more information on CNEWA, you can visit their website listed below.
