A Brief Story And History of Our Lady of Guadalupe - Perspectives Daily

December 12, 2017
Today, we celebrate the Feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is an important day of celebration for Catholics because it commemorates one of the most famous apparitions in the world - when Mary appeared to Mexican peasant Juan Diego in 1531. I have for you now, the story and a brief history of that encounter from our friends at the USCCB.
This February, CNS Rome Bureau Chief, Cindy Wooden and Vatican Correspondent from the National Catholic Reporter, Joshua McElwee release a new book entitled, A Pope Francis Lexicon. Our very own Matteo Cioffi had a chance to talk to them in Rome about what this book is all about and how it all came together.
Again, the book becomes available in February at the Liturgical Press website listed at www.litpress.org
Coming to Salt and Light TV tomorrow night is a new documentary called: “Saving The Little Kids of Manila”. It’s a heart-wrenching look at the lives of the forgotten street kids in the Philippines and how the Church in Manila is working to give them hope.
For details and times, you can visit our website at saltandlighttv.org
That is all that for today. Join us again tomorrow when I bring you news and stories from the Perspective of a Catholic lens.
