Welcome to S+L’s Weekly News Round-Up. As part of my job, I come across many interesting Catholic news stories on a daily basis. Some of them I'll cover on Perspectives Daily, and the others I’d like to share with you on this blog. This column is where I’ll point out some of the more interesting news pieces that I’ve come across over the past week! Enjoy!
Where to begin? With much of the Catholic media focused on either the World Meeting of Families or the current clergy sex abuse scandal in the US, there hasn't been much that doesn't fall under either camp. Sad but true.
Be that as it may, here's one that I'd like to share that seems to have come out of left field. Believe it or not it's a new commercial for a Gillette shaver that has a wonderful message in light of the secular push towards euthanasia and general disrepect to our elderly. It's completely in line with the pope's message of love for your parents, especially if they are elderly. Watch to the very end.
Here is a nice story published earlier this week coming from the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School in Kentucky about Latino students sharing childhood experiences and showing local parishioners the face of a global church.
A few weeks ago, we covered the 136th Knights of Columbus annual Supreme Convention in Baltimore. During one of the events, the Knights held an award ceremony and named a young family from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., as the 2018 Family of the Year and showed the video below.
One last item to share - on a funny note. We all know how men and women think differently about things. When confronted with a problem, men typically want to solve the problem, while women, on the other hand, sometimes just need us men to listen.
Well, that's all that I have for you this Friday afternoon. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you.
