S+L AT THE PAPAL VISIT: Canadian Postscript

April 22, 2008
The S+L team returned to Toronto Monday morning at 10:45 AM. Coincidentally, the papal plane landed in Rome at the exact same time. During the eight hour flight, "Shepherd One" flew briefly over Canadian airspace, prompting the Holy Father to impart a greeting and prayer to Governor General Michaëlle Jean.
Her Excellency Michaëlle Jean
Governor-General of Canada -- Ottawa
As I fly over Canada on my return to Rome after my visit to the United States and the United Nations Organization, I offer greetings to Your Excellency and pray that the Lord will sustain you and your fellow citizens in the way of freedom, justice and peace.
Benedictus pp. xvi
