Throughout his pontificate, Benedict XVI has prioritized the welfare of the Christians of the Middle East. His efforts have included pastoral visits to the region, and, in 2010 he convened a Synod of Bishops on the Middle East. On Catholic Focus, we interview Patriarch Bechara Rai, leader of the Maronite Catholic Church, and Armenian Orthodox peace activist Nora Carmi. They reflect on the Pope's interventions thus far and look to the difficult road ahead.
