The
Cantabile Chamber Singers, founded in 2006 by Cheryll Chung in Toronto, Canada, is a non-profit chamber choir of 16-20 singers dedicated to making music of the highest caliber and social awareness. They perform a diverse repertoire, from Palestrina to Whitacre and music that was written yesterday.
Formed in 2006, the choir is comprised of experienced singers whose areas of study range from music to medicine. They have come together for the love of music and the joy they can bring to others through the music they make, while helping to bring awareness to causes that impact society. Keeping with its mission and vision of community outreach and social justice issues, Cantabile is a not-for-profit organization where its members believe that music can help bring awareness to social issues such as poverty, discrimination and illness. They hope to enrich the lives of those to come to their concerts and more importantly those who benefit from them.
This Christmas concert, filmed in the Fr. Michael McGivney Studios of the Salt and Light Catholic Television Network Broadcast Centre, marks the first collaborative televised program with Canada’s national, Catholic Television Network that is now entering its fifteenth year.
The musical pieces are interspersed with reflections by Salt and Light CEO and biblical scholar, Fr. Thomas Rosica, CSB, offering our viewers a wonderful program of reflection and music on the great themes of Christmas – the Feast of the Word becoming flesh and pitching his tent among us. Salt and Light Television Network thanks the Cantabile Chamber Singers for their commitment to making high quality music while helping to bring awareness to causes that impact society.
