SALT + LIGHT NOW AVAILABLE ON TELUS OPTIK TV
CANADA’S CATHOLIC TELEVISION NETWORK EXPANDS AVAILABILITY IN THE WEST

TORONTO, January 18, 2011 – Salt + Light, Canada’s Catholic network, is pleased to announce its availability on Optik TV, channel 159. This announcement falls on the heels of the continued growth and demand for a specialty network that is devoted to spreading stories of hope, social justice and charity through modern media.

“We are excited to be working with TELUS, and to reach even more viewers in Western Canada with our unique content,” said Fr. Thomas Rosica, CSB, CEO of Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation, the non-profit organization that operates the network. “People across Canada continue to ask for Salt + Light and we are happy that TELUS has acknowledged this demand.”

Inspiring Line-up
Salt + Light offers viewers of all ages an inspiring, insightful and educational program line-up that features Canadian content in both official languages as well as Chinese and Italian language programming. Flagship programs include Perspectives, a daily information capsule with updates from the Vatican and communities across the country, Witness, an interview program with Father Thomas Rosica and inspiring and influential individuals who shape society, Catholic Focus, a current affairs program that examines issues affecting the Church and society, as well as youth-oriented programs, liturgical celebrations from around the world and special event coverage.

Western-influenced Programming
Salt + Light offers a wealth of programs that covering stories from Western Canada. These programs include features on Archbishop Raymond Roussin’s courageous story of depression, a soon-to-be released documentary on Westminster Abbey in Mission, BC, and a regular series entitled Nothing More Beautiful, which is produced in partnership with the Archdiocese of Edmonton.

Using the latest in fibre optic and IP technologies, Optik TV offers customers the ultimate home entertainment experience that can be tailored to their lifestyles. With Microsoft Mediaroom-based Optik TV, TELUS customers can record up to three programs simultaneously on a single Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and then play them back on any TV in the home with a TELUS set-top box. They will never miss their favourite show again. Customers can also pause a recorded show in one room and pick it up in another right where they left off. It’s easier and more flexible than ever.
