Salt + Light launches Cantonese version of popular Perspectives program
Catholic update program likely to travel the globe, satisfying growing appetite for Catholic information among Chinese diaspora TORONTO, January 20, 2012 – Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation, a multi-lingual and multimedia Canadian-based registered charity, launched today its first edition of Perspectives in a Chinese language. Initially broadcast in Cantonese, the five minute program will be filmed in Toronto by a mixture of staff and volunteers closely associated with the foundation’s Chinese ministry. Like its English and French counterparts, the Chinese program will provide Cantonese-speaking audiences with information on the universal Church as well as insights into accomplishments and developments from local Churches – predominantly at first from among the Canadian population. Perspectives, Chinese Edition is available at saltandlighttv.org/chinese Salt + Light intends to produce two programs per week with episodes airing immediately prior to Chinese programming. Updated schedules are available at www.saltandlighttv.org/schedule. Archives of the programs will be available on demand on the Salt + Light website. Perspectives has been airing daily in English and French since 2010 both online and on the television network in Canada. “Our objective is to share the message of the Gospel and teachings of the Church in new ways, especially through the most popular channels,” said Father Thomas Rosica, CSB, CEO of Salt and Light. “This new edition of Perspectives comes at a pivotal moment for us and for the Chinese Catholic community.
