Salt + Light crew tours Ireland prior to IEC

Prior to the 50th International Eucharistic Congress, the Salt + Light crew visited a number of historic religious sites across Ireland.  St. Canice’s Cathedral and its Round Tower (photo) are distinct parts of the heritage of the vibrant medieval city of Kilkenny.  The tower, which dates from the mid-9th century, is the oldest standing structure in the city and one of only two in all of Ireland that is accessible to the public.  Traditionally used as bell towers to call the Christian faithful to Mass and prayer, they also served as effective watch towers, as you can see from this panoramic view well beyond the city limits.

Tune into Salt + Light LIVE to watch the opening ceremony of the International Eucharistic Congress.

And stay connected on the ground all week with daily video updates of the Congress.
