Pope Francis’ Thing

Inevitably and unjustly, people tend to compare popes as they were set to fit in a certain mold. Well, there is actually a model, and I think we are all short of meeting the minimum requirements; the model is Christ, so, who we are to judge?
I say this because I see no reason to compare Pope Francis with Pope Benedict or JP II. Sone people even go further and include Paul VI on the list. Every one of them have their own thing, they have left us their legacy and that doesn't make one better than the other. They respond to the circumstances of their papacy with their own human limitations but at the best of their good will.
I say this because I’m not trying to diminish the legacy of previous popens but I do want to share what makes Pone Francis so special for me and personally makes me feel so proud of having him as the leader of the Church… so what’s Pope Francis’ thing?
The closeness, his words and actions always have the intention of reaching out to people wherever they are. When he speaks or writes, he definitively makes me feel like he understands what we go through every day, and he knows it first hand and not because he has been told by an adviser.
He has also gotten himself into trouble for doing that many times. The way he speaks may leave room for doubt for even the most intelligent theological brains in the Church, but still the message is clear enough for the little ones, for the simple ones. As Jesus said: “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children." Luke 10:21.
Don’t get me wrong, I do understand the confusion from the theological point of view… but I believe that at the end of the day, God cares nothing about theological definitions when they are not delivered with love.
