Week of Prayer Christian Unity 2018

Salt + Light Media

Thursday, January 18, 2018

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is held from January 18 to 25. This is the octave proposed by Paul Wattson in 1908, because it begins with the feast of St. Peter and ends with the feast of the conversion of St. Paul. Finding ways to pray together during this week in January put us in harmony we are in harmony with people around the world, which brings its own graces; in this way, we join with all who are praying, reflecting, studying, and even eating and drinking together to celebrate and pray for Christian unity. This year's theme is "Your Right Hand, O Lord, Glorious in Power" (Exodus 15:6)
Each day of the week also has different themes, or ideas to focus our prayer intentions. For this year, they are:
Day 1: Welcoming the Stranger
Day 2: No Longer a Slave
Day 3: Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit
Day 4: Hope and Healing
Day 5: Unity in Christ: Hearing the Cries of the Poor
Day 6: Let us look to the interests of Others
Day 7: Building a Family in household and Church
Day 8: Our Covenant with God
