40 Days for Life Campaign Drawing to a Close

Matthew Harrison

Monday, March 22, 2010

With Holy Week just days away, our 40 day sojourn through Lent is drawing to a close -- and this Sunday, the 40 Days for Life Campaign is as well.
boulder-1-bannerAs Pedro shared with you back on Ash Wednesday, 40 Days for Life is a campaign of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion.  It's a vigil outside an abortion facility where people stand at every hour of the day, for forty days, praying for life. In its sixth campaign, 40 Days is taking place in 167 cities across the United States, as well as cities in Canada, Northern Ireland and Australia. In Canada, Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer are the cities in Alberta participating, Guelph and Toronto in Ontario, Kelowna, British Columbia is the most western city, and Montreal the most eastern.
There isn't chanting, or loud protesting.  It's a time of prayer. As Pedro pointed out, if there isn't one near you, or you are unable to attend in these final days, you can always pray and offer sacrifices for the protection of life.  It's an intention worth keeping through this Lent, and at all times of the year.
For more information, visit www.40daysforlife.com.  You can also follow on the 40 Days for Life blog which not only offers updates from various locations, but also prayer intentions for each day, Scripture passages, and reflections.
