Sing a new song unto the Lord!

Cheridan Sanders

Friday, July 20, 2012

Last time on Perspectives Weekly, we spoke about some of the changes on the new Roman Missal that we have been using since November 27th -- the First Sunday of Advent -- and we learned how this new translation will help us enter deeper into the mystery of the Eucharist. This week, Pedro asks the question: what does the new translation teach us about music in the liturgy?
Together with his two guests, he introduces us to some of the changes as they pertain to music. Fr. Bill Burke, the director of the National Liturgy Office of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, is joined by composer John Dawson, who wrote "Mass Setting B" (Mass of the Holy Family), one of the three approved Canadian Mass settings as found in "Celebrate in Song". Together they'll get to the heart of the matter, and explain how these new musical settings will assist in our celebration of Holy Mass.
Join us tonight for another in-depth, thought-provoking discussion on Perspectives Weekly at 7 and 11pm ET / 8pm PT. In the meantime, take part in the discussion on Facebook.
