Welcome to S+L’s Weekly News Round-Up. As the Director of Marketing and Communications here at S+L, many interesting Catholic news stories and articles come across my desk on a daily basis. Some of them we’ll cover on our different television programs and others I’d like to share with you on this blog.
This blog column is where I’ll point out some of the more interesting news pieces that I’ve come across over the past week! Enjoy!
This past week has been an absolutely fantastic week for interesting Catholic content! So many videos have been cropping up in the social media-sphere. This November we remember those who gave up their lives in the two World Wars. This rare footage of the celebration of Mass during WWII is particularly fascinating. Thanks to ChurchPop for bringing them all together:

Makin Island Kiribati Islands – November 1943

Ship near Iwo Jima – February 1945

You can see much more historical Catholic Mass footage here.
So this  month of November has become commonly known MOVEMBER, a fundraiser month where men raise money by not shaving to promote Men's health. Here is an interesting piece from our friends at EpicPew titled: 7 Saints Proudly Celebrating “No Shave November."

In a speech delivered at the Vatican just three days before the U.S. presidential election, Pope Francis urged social justice activists from around the world not to give into the politics of fear by building walls but instead work to build bridges...

Holy Water - we see it at the church every Sunday and probably don't give it a second thought. It's probably the most underestimated "Christian tool." Have you ever wondered what its origins are and why Holy Water is such an important part of our Christian tradition? Here is an interesting info-graphic that's been popping up on Facebook and Instagram lately.holy-water
And finally now, here's an article that came across my desk that I found particularly interesting. Raising kids to be closer to God is difficult enough. These two articles articulate everything that we know to be correct in a short and easy list. From CatholicLink and MercyForMarthas:

10 Simple Ways to Bring Your Children Closer to God

Seven Facts About Saints Your Kids Need to Know

Well, that's it for this week! Have a great weekend!
