Benedict XVI was pope from 2005 to 2013. He is perhaps best known for being the first pope to step down from the papacy in over 700 years. On December 31, 2022, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI died, at the age of 95. This week, on a special edition of the SLHour we remember Pope Benedict and consider his legacy. We are joined by Doctor Christopher Bellitto, professor of history at Kean University and we also hear from Cardinal Gerald Lacroix of Quebec, Pope Francis' biographer, Austen Ivereigh, professor of theology at Regis College, Sr. Gill Goulding, CJ and Cindy Wooden, Rome Bureau Chief of Catholic News Service.
Email us your comments or find Deacon Pedro on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
