To mark today's DVD sales launch of
Changing Course: A Catholic project for city schools, here is an episode of
Catholic Focus that previewed some of the innovative gang and bullying prevention initiatives covered in the new half-hour documentary.
In particular, I spoke with James Flaherty and Elisa Quinto, two Ascension of Our Lord high school teachers who directed the award-winning film
Mouse, the making of which was detailed in
Changing Course. I also sat down with author Patrick McCloskey, whose well-reviewed book
The Street Stops Here: A Year at a Catholic High School in Harlem further affirms the unique ability of the Catholic education ethos to address urban school issues.
The
Catholic Focus episode is included as an extra feature in the
Changing Course DVD, which can be
purchased today. Read more about it and watch the documentary trailer
