God is still God

This is an uncertain time — at least it feels that way. A lot of things have changed and continue to change unpredictably. Our routines, our lifestyles, our plans. Amidst life’s surprises, perhaps we can focus on something that does remain constant, no matter the season or circumstance — our God.
In this time, let’s remember that God is still God. He is the same God whose wonders we have read about in the Bible. He is the God who parted the Red Sea at His command. Who saved His Jewish people through an orphan who became queen. Who transformed St. Paul’s heart on a moment’s notice. Throughout all the impossible biblical moments that make up the Old and New Testament, God was unwaveringly there, still as sovereign, loving, and omnipotent as ever.
In all these moments, God was still God.
In our own lives, He’s the same God who has blessed us immensely and worked for our good, even when we weren’t aware. How many times has He amazed us over the years, moving mountains even in our darkest moments?
From childhood to adulthood, God was still God.
He remains in control even as we remain bewildered, just as it was ages ago.
There are some powerful verses in Scripture that remind us of His lasting authority, love, and goodness. I thought I'd share them as they’ve definitely helped anchor me these days. Let’s hold on to these truths as we carry on!

Colossians 1:16-17
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 90:2
Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Jeremiah 31:3
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

Daniel 2:20-21
Praise be to the name of God forever and ever;
Wisdom and power are his.
He changes times and seasons;
He sets up kings and deposes them.

Psalm 86:5
You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love to all who call to you.

Daniel 6:27-28
For he is the living God and he endures forever;
His kingdom will not be destroyed,
His dominion will never end.
He rescues and he saves;
He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the Earth.

Proverbs 16:33
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.

Psalm 22:28-29
All the ends of the earth
will remember and turn to the Lord,
and all the families of the nations
will bow down before him,
for dominion belongs to the Lord
and he rules over the nations.

Psalm 30:5-6
Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
