Catholic Focus: Remembering Brother André

Mary Rose Bacani Valenti

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

There were so many wonderful people I met and so many wonderful stories I heard during the filming for the documentary God’s Doorkeeper:  St. André of Montreal. Unfortunately, I couldn’t include them all in the documentary!
F_MG_1729So we’ve decided to feature a special episode of Catholic Focus entitled “Remembering Brother André”.
This episode will give you a chance to hear a few wonderful stories that weren’t in the documentary:
  • An overview of the different parts of Saint Joseph’s Oratory that draw pilgrims, given by Oratory rector Fr. Claude Grou, CSC;
  • Testimonials from four different pilgrims -- one is a young Catholic from Montreal who grew up with the Oratory; another a Catholic from the United States who goes on pilgrimage for the first time for the healing of her mother; and an Anglican couple who was so touched by the outdoor Stations of the Cross;
  • Br. André’s two visits to the town of St. Joseph in Southwestern Ontario -- today, the Cantin family has one of the most impressive archives of Br. André in North America because of these two visits; and
  • A reflection on what it means for someone with little education like Brother André to be held up as an educator in the faith – featuring interviews filmed on location at the University of Portland and the University of Notre Dame.
So, join me for the Catholic Focus: Remembering Brother André which airs on Thursday, October 28th, at 7:00pm and 11:00pm ET, and repeats on Saturday, October 30th at the same times.
St. André, pray for us!
