Noel Ocol

Tuesday, February 19, 2019

This week, all the presidents from the world’s episcopal conferences will convene in Rome for four days at the pope’s request for the much-anticipated sexual abuse summit. On the eve of this event, the world is wondering what will come out of this unprecedented meeting of Church and religious leaders.
That’s our feature story for tonight. And here's a quick look at some of the other stories we cover in today’s show.
  • A major appointment for a US Cardinal in the Vatican last Thursday to a very important and historically significant position. We’ll tell you who got the job as the new Vatican Camerlengo, what it is, and what the prestigious position entails.
  • 88 years ago on February 12, 1931, the pope sent a message to the world in Morse Code. That was the beginning of what we now know as Vatican Radio.
  • A big win for the Catholic community in the UK as one of their very own gets the green light for canonization after a second miracle was approved by the Vatican. Details later in the show.
  • Finally, seven months after resigning from the College of Cardinals for credible sexual misconduct allegations, this former high-ranking ex-cardinal is officially removed from the clerical state.
All that and more in this week's edition of Vatican Connections.
