Prayers for Saskatoon's New Bishop

Gillian Kantor

March 23, 2010
As Salt + Light prepares to travel to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the Episcopal Ordination of Monsignor Donald Bolen, we invite you to share with us your thoughts and prayers for him. As laity, we can only imagine both the great responsibility and humility that comes with this call of leadership and service. But as faithful people, we have the grace to assist through our prayers. Join us in praying for Msgr. Bolen as he takes up his new role as diocesan shepherd.

Congratulations Bishop Don! Your deep Faith, your wonderful mind, and your concern for the little ones, along with your gentleness and humility, have always been an inspiration to me.  I am sure that you will be a great blessing to the Diocese of Saskatoon as their shepherd.  I will continue to pray for you and, as you (in your usual self-effacing way) have suggested, pray also for the people of the Diocese, too. I wish you much peace.

I pray that Monsignor Bolen’s openness to diversity, his gentleness and integrity will shine a light among his colleagues and be an example to the world. I pray that those who know him will be there for him and those who don't know him yet will come to like and support him. May his wonderful smile warm the hearts of the people and may he receive God’s abundant blessings in his new Saskatoon life. Amen.

We’re very proud of Don. He’s a people person – very gentle and soft-spoken, a good listener with a sensitivity for people. We want him to be happy, and this is his call. He’s got the gifts to do a good job and we’re confident that the Holy Spirit will guide him in this huge responsibility.
