Welcome to S+L’s Weekly News Round-Up. As the Director of Marketing and Communications here at S+L, many interesting Catholic news stories and articles come across my desk on a daily basis. Some of them we’ll cover on our different television programs and others I’d like to share with you on this blog.
This blog column is where I’ll point out some of the more interesting news pieces that I’ve come across over the past week! Enjoy!
We've all head that soul-touching song "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen sung by one famous person or another at some point in time. But have you ever heard it sung by 1,500+ strangers altogether, simultaneously? 1,500 singers came together at the 2016 Luminato Festival at the Hearn Generating Station in Toronto and here is the hauntingly beautiful result!
Here is an interesting explanation to a topic that most people give much thought about. What happens after you find yourself dead?.. you laugh but its gonna happen one day! Check out this video explaining the Catechism..
And on that note, here is a listing of:

10 Surprising Facts About Purgatory That You Probably Didn’t Know

Kids love Superheroes but rarely think of saints in that light. Here is an interesting perspective on some great saints and, yeah, they could actually be superheroes in our universe, not just the Marvel Universe. This is from our friends at EpicPew.

In addition to all that superpower, I bet they could all sing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah just as well as any rock star! :)
Ok, finally last but not least, I stumbled across an article on ChurchPop that I found particularly interesting, since many of my friends and family are naming their newborns after biblical characters. What do the names like Andrew or Gabriel or Matthew actually mean, you may wonder? Look no further:

Well, that's it for some of the more interesting things that have come across my desk this week. I'll have more for you next Friday.
In the meantime, don't forget to watch our coverage of the Pope Francis' Apostolic visit to former the Soviet Republics of Georgia and Azerbaijan!
Have a great weekend!
