Last week was all about the 34th World Youth Day as the pope travelled to Panama to be with the youth in what is the largest single gathering of Catholic youth in the world. Yet, despite all the festivities, the Holy Father took a moment to address the clerical abuse scandal during a private luncheon on Saturday. And tonight, we have a first hand account of that discussion and what the pope said about the issue.
Here are some of the other stories that we look at in tonight’s show.
  • Despite being out of the Vatican, the pope released his message for the 2019 World Day of Social Communications to be celebrated on June 2nd.
  • After 500 years, the Papal Swiss Guard finally get a much needed change to their uniform. Can you guess what it is?
  • There are some big changes in the management of the 1500-year-old Sistine Chapel Choir. Could it be a result of fraud and embezzlement allegations? You tell us.
  • And this week in the history of the Vatican, we look at the story behind the unexpected proclamation of the 2nd Vatican Council and how the idea of such a council was initially received. And it wasn’t what you’d think!
We have all that and more coming up on this week's edition of Vatican Connections.
