Subject Matters - Ageless Wisdom: Lifetime Lessons from the Bible
The wise elders of the Bible impart great wisdom for those on the spiritual journey. As Pope Francis said recently, "It's good for the elderly to communicate their wisdom to the young; and it is good for young people to gather this wealth of experience and wisdom, and to carry it forward." Using insights from some famous and some unknown tales, myths, legends, allegories, chronicles, and proverbs, historian Chris Bellitto places them in the context of the ancient biblical world in which they were written. The Bible is a living text offering all of us—Jews, Christians, and Muslims (as well as the occasional nonbeliever)—a roadmap to gain wisdom. Drawing not only on the Bible itself, but on medieval and modern Jewish commentaries, Christian sermons, and Muslim explanations, Ageless Wisdom offers examples of how past generations of men and women have made the Bible's lessons about wisdom their own.

From the grand to the mundane, life at Westminster Abbey in Mission, B.C., is anything but ordinary. This Side of Eden presents a poetic, compelling and richly intimate portrait of the Benedictine Monks in the days of Holy Week and the Easter Triduum. Young and old, able and infirm, the subtle splendor of their lives is interwoven with the quiet majesty of the natural world that surrounds them. Stunningly photographed and thoughtfully told, this film offers a meditative glimpse into a unique way of life which is grounded on earth but lived looking beyond.

Subject Matters - Particles of Faith
How can Catholics explain what the Church teaches about the relationship between science and faith? Scientist, writer, and scholar Stacy Trasancos gives us ways we can talk about how science and our Catholic faith work together to reveal the truth of Christ through the beauty of his creation. Stacy Trasancos has confronted some of the basic questions we all face. In Particles of Faith, she teaches us how to explain the symbiotic beauty between our curiosity expressed through science and our love of Christ and his Church. Trasancos uses her own story, as well as encyclicals such as Pope Francis’s Lumen Fidei, the deep reflections of theologians such as St. Thomas Aquinas, and the exacting work of Catholic scientists like Rev. Georges Lemaître (who proposed the game-changing Big Bang theory), to show how science and faith are interwoven and meant to guide us on the path to truth. By the time you finish reading Particles of Faith, you’ll be able to answer questions about, generate discussion on, and explain why science helps deepen your faith.
