Looking Back at the Pope’s Visit to Iraq

On March 6, 2021, during his apostolic visit to Iraq, Pope Francis celebrated Mass in the Chaldean Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Baghdad. Photo courtesy of Vatican Media.

This week, on a special edition of the SLHour, we look back at Pope Francis’ historic visit to Iraq. We hear from the Most Rev. Bashar Warda of the Chaldean Catholic Archdiocese of Erbil, and we examine the significance of the trip with a panel of experts, Fr. Dominic Robinson, SJ and John Pontifex of Aid to the Church in Need, UK and Stephen Rasche of the Catholic University in Erbil.
