138th Knights of Columbus Supreme Convention

Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Fr. Michael McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut., and a group of parishioners. Their goal was to bring financial aid and assistance to the sick, disabled and needy members, and their families.

Today, the Knights of Columbus has become one of the largest lay Catholic organizations in the world, with nearly 2 million members in 17 countries, and Fr. McGivney is being considered for sainthood.

Each year, Knights from around the world gather to celebrate their faith and works of charity. 2020 has been a challenging year and the need for the organization is greater than it has ever been. In order to support the needs of communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the K of C have launched the Leave No Neighbor Behind Fund. Still, international charitable partnerships as well as local ones, such as the Food for Families, Coats for Kids projects, the Christian Refugee Fund, Disaster Relief, the Ultrasound initiative, and supporting seminarians and veterans has continued.

This year, the Supreme Convention has to be held virtually. On August 4-5, join Salt + Light for LIVE coverage of the 138th Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus from New Haven. Ct.

Celebrate the charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism of the Knights as they look back on an extraordinary year and the many faith-filled efforts to strengthen family life, promote religious freedom, and build a better future for all. See our coverage schedule below.
