Perspectives Daily - Cardinal Collins Visits S+L

February 16, 2017
Twenty months after suffering serious damage from an arson attack, the famous Church of the Loaves and Fishes in Israel, was finally reopened.
This iconic church, also known as, the Church of the Multiplication is located on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. It is traditionally believed to be the site where Jesus performed the biblical miracle of the multiplication of the fish and loaves, as illustrated in the gospel of Matthew chapter 14 versus: 13-21.
The Israeli President, Reuven Rivlin attended the reopening ceremony saying he wanted to say loud and clearly that, "hate cannot win". German Cardinal Rainer Woelki of Cologne celebrated the Mass to mark the event. Sadly, the arson attack is blamed on Jewish extremists and two suspects have been held in custody for which the police are treating as a hate crime. The total cost of the reconstruction was tabulated at $1.38 million.
With World Youth Day in Panama just under 2 years away, the Canadian Catholic Conference of Bishops has announced the appointment of Isabel Correa, the Director of Youth Ministry at the Archdiocese of Montreal, as the new National Coordinator for the... Canadian delegation at World Youth Day.
Isabel succeeds Father Thomas Rosica,CEO of Salt and Light TV, who has served in this capacity to Canadian WYD delegations for the past 15 years when he worked as the national director of WYD 2002 in Toronto.
The next WYD will be celebrated in Panama in 2019, from January 22nd to 27th, on the theme: "I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word". Of course we’ll keep you up-to-date on the details of the upcoming WYD as they become available.
Earlier today, we at Salt and Light were lucky enough to have another celebrity guest visit our studios. His Eminence Cardinal Collins, visited the new Salt and Light Studios, toured the our new facility, celebrated Mass and had lunch with the staff And here is what he had to say...
And we thank the Cardinal for taking time out of his busy schedule for visiting us today.
