Perspectives Daily - Highlights of Easter in Rome

April 18, 2017
Happy Easter to all of you and thank you for joining us today. Holy Week and Easter was a very busy time for the Pope who had a jammed packed schedule. During that time, there was some beautiful moments with powerful messages.
Lets have a look now, at some of the major highlights of Easter weekend in Rome.
If you missed any of the events, you can re-watch our entire broadcast of those events on our website listed here.
Here in Canada, the President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, issued a message yesterday, marking the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.
On behalf of the Bishops of Canada, President Bishop Douglas Crosby, offers best wishes and prayers: that God will continue to keep our home and native land glorious and free, and that Canadians, including the Indigenous Peoples whose lands we share, will continue to work toward a better country and a better world."
In his message, Bishop Crosby recalls the vision and sacrifices that have been present since the beginning. "In the celebrations that will take place on July 1, 2017, we will commemorate the occasion when four former colonies joined to form one country." He emphasizes that "this land is also God's gift and blessing, and is not only of our own making. It is not inappropriate, therefore, that our motto should quote from Psalm 72: 'May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth'
You can read the entire message on the CCCB website here.
Finally tonight, one programming note to mention. Tomorrow afternoon, we’ll broadcast live from Peterborough the installation Mass of Bishop Daniel Meihm as the 13th Bishop of Peterborough with live commentary by Fr. Thomas Rosica. Broadcast on our network starts promptly at 1:50pm Eastern. The schedule and program details is available on our website listed here.
And that is all that we have time for today. Join us again tomorrow where we bring you more of the latest news and stories through the Perspectives of a Catholic lens.
