93 years ago the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal. It was on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the beatification of two of these children, Jacinta and Francisco that Pope Benedict XVI made his first Pastoral Visit to Portugal. Thursday May 14th, some 10 thousand people marched through the streets of Ottawa for the 12th annual National March for Life, to mark the passing of the Omnibus Bill from May 14, 1969 which took away restrictions on abortion in Canada, effectively allowing abortion-on-demand.
