7月29日是教宗方濟各在加拿大訪問的最後一天。當天上午的第一項活動是會見耶穌會同會弟兄。會晤是在9點前開始，比預期的要早，持續了約1小時。在場的會士，除了加拿大籍切爾尼（Michael Czerny）樞機外，還有15位耶穌會士，最後以贈送禮物結束。教會和加拿大是談話的中心課題。羅馬《公教文明》期刊主編習安東神父如此簡要地講述了教宗在魁北克主教府與耶穌會會士的私下聚會。
習安東神父說：「就如往常那樣，教宗在他的牧靈訪問期間會與耶穌會士見面。這是個非常簡單、非正式的會晤，有問有答，無拘無束的直接的談話。教宗談到的課題有整個教會，當然也有這個國家加拿大，以及他訪問這國家的目的。令人印象深刻的是，這些會見是牧靈訪問的第一個『共鳴箱』，他可以和他的這些弟兄暢談他的經歷，因為他們也有他親身經歷的一切。這是一次非常親切的會面，他不時高興地大笑，但在談到非常嚴肅的問題時，他表現出應有的冷靜。」
最後，習安東神父補充說：「會見是以大家一起祈禱和團體合影結束。耶穌會士贈送給教宗一幅繪有一隻蝴蝶的畫，大家還對此開玩笑，這是與這個國家共融和在精神上深刻一致的美好標記。」
