2024年1月21日主日，教宗方濟各在梵蒂岡帶領聚集在聖伯多祿廣場上的2萬名信眾誦念《三鐘經》後宣布，教會將今年訂為「祈禱年」，鼓勵信友們虔誠祈禱。

教宗說：「未來的幾個月將帶領我們開啟聖門，我們將由此開始禧年。我籲請你們加強祈禱，做好準備，善度這恩寵的時期，並體驗天主的希望的力量。」接著，教宗指出：「為此，今天我們開始『祈禱年』，那就是說，絕對需要在全世界、整個的教會生活、信友的個人生活投身到祈禱中去，重新發現祈禱的巨大價值。我們還將得到聖座福音傳播部提供的祈禱指南的幫助。」

Father in heaven,

in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from
within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,

【鹽與光傳媒資訊】2023年11月11日，教宗方濟各在梵蒂岡會見各朝聖地的服務的負責人和工作人員時宣布2024年是祈禱年，籲請眾人致力於祈禱，為2025年禧年做準備。

教宗方濟各表示：「我希望明年能夠全心投入祈禱，為2025年禧年做準備。明年將致力於祈禱。」教宗指出，有關方面將推出「指南」，「這將有助於重新發現祈禱的中心地位」。教宗也呼籲眾人每天要成為祈禱的男女，祈禱是發自內心，而不是像鸚鵡學舌那樣。

此外，為了更好地度過這一年，萬民福音傳播部也將出版一系列的「祈禱札記」，透過天主教豐富傳統中多種形式的祈禱，重新將與上主的深厚關係置於中心地位。
